If you are a model kit and statue painter yourself or just want to get started, this site is for you! I compiled a list of shops that offer (secondhand) model kits and the tools I use to paint them.

Unpainted garage kits

Japanese garage kits are mostly sold at live events in Japan, e.g., Wonder Festival and Treasure Festival, although some are currently held online due to Covid-19. If you cannot attend such an event or hire a proxy, you can buy them second hand online, e.g., via Mandarake or Yahoo! Japan Auctions. While Mandarake does ship overseas, you need a proxy service like Zen Market to buy from Yahoo. A few sculptors that create their own, unlicenced and original characters do sell internationally. Best is to follow them on Twitter and ask!

To the best of my knowledge, there is almost no US- or European-based shop that does sell Japanese garage kits. One exception is the USA store of Volks. So another way to get kits is to buy them second hand from private collectors and painters from Facebook groups. I also compiled the items I want to part with from my personal collection in a separate Flickr folder that is always up to date. , so only one piece is available of every listed figure. More information about an item (e.g., with or without original box) is available if you click on a photo. My “For Sale” folder can be found here. If you are interested in a kit or want to get a shipping quote, just shoot me a message via the contact form or social media. I do accept Paypal and ship internationally.

Model painting supplies and tools

I use mostly paints from Japanese brands such as Tamiya, Creos and Gaianotes. A good source to shop such kinds of paints is Sealmodel. It takes months for a package to arrive, but I found the site reliable.

I also use a variety of tools for working on figures and tried to compile the items I like most on my Amazon storefront. This link is an affiliate link – so when you purchase from there, Amazon will credit me a few cents for a purchase, but it won’t cost you anything. I appreciate if you consider buying from my storefront to help my website grow!
